Views have traditionally been the most important measure of success on the internet, but platform like Medium and Skillshare measure your success in terms of engagement. Heck, even Spotify adjusted payouts in November 2023 to adapt and more fairly reward the right people.

Even so, while I feel engagement and reads are a more fair and rewarding way to measure value delivered on Medium, we can’t get away from the ubiquity of views. It’s the same reason why we still use Qwerty keyboard layout instead of more efficient layouts like Dvorak.

Here’s how to find your total views on Medium in 2024.

Finding your views pre-2024

After scouring the internet, I managed to find a Github gist to calculate your total Medium views. While not perfect and robust, it was good enough. You’ll need a little bit of technical know-how and a bit of Googling prowess (or just ask ChatGPT). For the curious, I’ve added comments to explain what each step is doing.
